Jereme Baker
Founder & Managing Member
Jereme Baker is the owner and Managing Member of Baker Law Group. Mr. Baker has extensive experience in the various practice areas of the firm, namely, Real Estate, Business/Corporate Law, Estate Planning, and Probate. He has provided legal and business advice to many small to medium sized businesses through roles as both in-house legal counsel and as outside general counsel.
Some of Mr. Baker’s recent practice accomplishments include negotiating and forming a multimillion-dollar joint venture investment fund; assisting private equity client in acquiring over $30 million in real estate assets including drafting, negotiating and in the performance of due diligence; and assisting client in the negotiation and drafting of a $60 million-dollar commercial real estate development venture in Denver.
Mr. Baker has also provided advisement regarding governance, management and operation of privately held investment ventures, advisement regarding regulatory/compliance review, formation and drafting of corporate governance documents and board books, drafting of business formation and partnership agreements, drafting of commercial loan agreements, and negotiating, resolving, and litigating contractual disputes. In addition, he has advised regarding various real estate matters, including drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, drafting residential and commercial leases, and conducting real estate title and due diligence review. In the areas of probate he has experience litigating contested wills/trusts and probate contests, & advising clients regarding probate administration.
Jereme started Baker Law Group in 2011. He earned his B.A. from Rutgers University and his J.D. Degree from the University of Colorado. He has two preschool aged boys, and he loves taking them camping, hiking, and fishing and watching them grow up. He is a 2014 Recipient of the Billy Lewis Young Lawyer Award – Courage Under Fire Award. Additionally, superlawyers.com recognized Mr. Baker as a “Rising Star”.
Brian Petz
Senior Associate Attorney
Brian Petz is a senior associate at Baker Law Group. His practice focuses on Business Law, Probate & Estate Planning, and Real Estate Law. Mr. Petz has represented an array of clients in estate planning, including those with small, moderate, and large estates, as well as those with traditional and blended families. He has assisted clients in the administration of multimillion-dollar trusts and estates, and has litigated probate issues concerning, among other things: fiduciary appointment and removal; surcharge; common-law marriage; and heirship.
In addition to his probate practice, Mr. Petz has supported the Real Estate and Business Law Departments of Baker Law Group, LLC, recently assisting on real estate acquisitions exceeding $30 million in value, various commercial contracts, master service agreements, commercial and residential leases, and business formations.
Mr. Petz joined Baker Law Group as an associate attorney in 2015. He is a member of the Colorado and Arapahoe County Bar Associations, the Elder Law and Trust & Estate Sections of the Colorado Bar Association, and is actively involved in various organizations serving and advocating for Colorado’s senior population.
Mr. Petz earned his B.S. from Florida State University and his J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School. Originally from Clearwater, Florida, Brian now lives in Thornton with his wife and three dogs. During his spare time, he enjoys hiking and playing hockey.
Robert Harper
Senior Associate Attorney
Robert Harper is a senior associate with extensive litigation experience in civil litigation including personal injury, construction defect (CDARA), business and real estate litigation, and landlord-tenant disputes. Robert has considerable trial experience with multiple courtroom victories. Overall, Robert has represented clients in over 350 litigated matters across Colorado, including Federal, District, and County Courts.
Robert believes in utilizing strategic litigation tactics to outmaneuver and gain a legal advantage for his clients. Robert also ensures that his clients are fully informed so that they can make educated decisions. In representing both Plaintiff and Defendants alike, Robert brings a unique insight in each case to create leverage for his clients.
While originally from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Robert earned his J.D. and master’s degree at Vermont Law School in South Royalton, Vermont. Before law school, Robert attended Albright University in Reading, PA majoring in both History and Political Science. While there, Robert earned All-American honors, Defensive Player of the Year, and received the Student Athlete of the Year Award in 2009. Robert is a member of the both the Colorado, and Douglas County Bar Associations. Robert has also been bestowed with the Top 40 under 40 Award for Lawyers in the State of Colorado.
Robert enjoys playing golf, hiking, fly fishing, and spending time with his wife, Casey, his son, Robert Jr, and two pets, Jersey the Boxer and Jack the Cat. Robert is an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan.
Joseph O’Keefe
Senior Associate Attorney
Joseph (“Joe”) O’Keefe is a Philadelphia native with a distinguished legal background. After many years in Pennsylvania, he shifted his focus to a nationwide practice specializing in complex commercial real estate transactions, business and real estate litigation, and defense of serious crimes.
He obtained his Juris Doctorate from Villanova’s School of Law and an LL.M. in Trial Advocacy from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law. He ran a successful general practice in Pennsylvania for over twenty-five years before relocating to Colorado.
Joe has imparted over a thousand continuing legal education credits on various topics, including Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, trial strategy, and more. He is admitted to practice in several jurisdictions, including the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Court of Colorado, and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
Joe has garnered significant respect in the legal community through his contributions to continuing legal education (CLE). His passion for mentoring younger lawyers and his commitment to the legal community’s education has been widely recognized.
Jennifer Schwab
Senior Associate Attorney
Jennifer (“Jen”) Schwab is a Senior Associate Attorney at Baker Law Group. Her practice focuses on Estate Planning, Probate, Business Law, Real Estate, Cannabis Law, and Psilocybin Law.
Jen began her legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Todd Vriesman in Jefferson County District Court in Golden, Colorado, where she built her interest and experience in civil and probate law. After completing her clerkship, Jen spent the next several years honing her experience in business law, probate, estate planning, cannabis law, and psilocybin law, working as an attorney at a small law firm, as corporate in-house counsel, and as the owner of her own firm.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Jen was a commercial interior designer and later owned a restaurant in Denver. These experiences formed the basis of her understanding of both the day-to-day and overall challenges business owners face.
Jen received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Memberships include the Colorado Bar Association, CBA Trusts & Estates Section, CBA Business Law Section, Aurora Bar Association, Estate Planning Council of Southeast Denver, and sections relevant to her work in cannabis and psilocybin law.
Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Jen now lives in Aurora, Colorado, with her daughter and a few cats. Jen enjoys spending time with her partner, Theron, running long distances, and singing karaoke in her spare time.
Renee Gerni
Senior Associate Attorney
Renee M. Gerni has experience with all labor and employment laws, including ERISA and various state laws. She is also a litigation strategist with significant experience in complex civil litigation, including class and collective actions. Throughout her career, Renee has negotiated collective bargaining agreements and multi-million-dollar litigation settlements for pension benefits, retiree medical benefits, and unpaid wages.
Renee is originally from Golden, Colorado. She graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University, in New York, and then worked as a paralegal for the Legal Aid Society of New York. After completing law school at the American University Washington College of Law, she practiced labor and employment law in Washington D.C. until 2020, when she returned to Colorado. Before joining Baker Law Group, Renee started her legal consultancy and was an Associate General Counsel at the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) for 8.5 years.
Renee was also an Adjunct Professor of legal writing and research at the Washington College of Law at American University. In addition to being licensed to practice in Colorado, the District of Columbia, and Virginia, Renee is admitted to several federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.
Andrew Lang
Associate Attorney
Andrew is an associate attorney at Baker Law Group and is part of our Litigation team. He is particularly skilled in researching, analyzing, and arguing complicated legal issues with high personal stakes. Mr. Lang joined the team at Baker Law Group, LLC, to expand his litigation practice, while still centering it around building relationships with clients and achieving positive results for them.
A transplant from the New York City area, Mr. Lang graduated magna cum laude from Tufts University with a B.A. in history and a minor in political science. He received his J.D. from New York University School of Law (“NYU”), ranked as the fifth (5th) best law school in the U.S. After clerking for a judge of the New Jersey Superior Court, he subsequently relocated to Colorado Springs at the beginning of 2020 to work for the Office of the Public Defender.
When not practicing law, Mr. Lang enjoys reading, exercising, and spending time at home with his partner, cat, and two dogs.
Carl Snider
Associate Attorney
Carl grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and attended the University of Dallas, where he majored in Economics. While in undergraduate school, Carl had the opportunity to study abroad near Rome, Italy, which initiated a lifelong passion for travel. After college, Carl was accepted to Washburn University of Law under the Shamberg Scholar program, receiving a small stipend to attend law school there.
During his first summer of law school, Carl joined a plaintiff’s workers compensation practice, the Cooper Law Office, as a law clerk. While in law school, he received Top Paper honors in three separate courses for his exceptional research and legal writing abilities. After graduation, he was a practicing attorney for several years in that same firm, representing injured workers all across Kansas. He helped set a new legal precedent for injured workers with the Kansas Court of Appeals after the legislature passed a new standard for proving injuries.
After being smitten by the mountains, Carl sought to expand his practice areas and moved to Denver in August of 2021. He first began working for Watson & Associates, a firm that assists contractors that have contracts or bids in the federal government’s bid procurement process, writing briefs for the Federal Court of Appeals.
Then, he began working for Furtado Law PC, assisting homeowners and commercial property owners with insurance bad faith cases in federal court, wherein insurers had unreasonably delayed or denied insurance claims. He also represented contractors and property owners regarding construction defect claims in that firm.
At Baker Law Group, LLC, Carl specializes in litigation involving real estate, business, breach of contract, construction defect issues, mechanic’s liens, and related areas. Outside of practicing law, Carl enjoys hiking, skiing, traveling, camping, attending concerts, and spending time at home with his partner, cat, and dog.
Tyler Gurnee
Senior Associate Attorney
Tyler grew up in Virginia Beach and attended the University of Virginia, where he double-majored in history and classical languages with a focus in Latin. While in school, Tyler studied abroad at the University of Oxford, the start of a lifelong passion for travel. After college, Tyler worked as a lease administrator for Dollar Tree, Inc. before heading west in 2013 to attend law school at the University of Colorado. During law school, Tyler served as President of the Construction and Real Estate Law Association, attended the school’s Entrepreneurial Law Clinic, and worked for firms specializing in real estate litigation and corporate law.
After graduating in 2016, Tyler worked as an associate attorney for Professional Finance Company, Inc., specializing in Fair Debt Collection Practices Act compliance and litigation. Tyler joined the Colorado Creditor Bar Association in February 2018 and was elected Secretary in April 2018.
Tyler joined Murr Siler & Accomazzo, P.C. in August 2019, where he brought Fair Debt Collection Practices Act knowledge to the firm and expanded his practice to include commercial litigation, mortgage servicer defense, bankruptcy, landlord-tenant law, and foreclosures. Tyler has presented a CLE on foreclosure law in Colorado and recently co-authored a successful Brief in Opposition to Petition for Writ of Certiorari in the Supreme Court of the United States, preserving the dismissal of a debtor’s bankruptcy for failure to pay all of her mortgage payments timely as required under her Chapter 13 plan.
At Baker Law Group, LLC, Tyler specializes in litigation involving real estate, breach of contract, landlord-tenant law, foreclosures, and related areas.
Outside of practicing law, Tyler enjoys running, traveling, hiking, camping, geocaching, playing bass guitar, attending concerts, playing tennis, watching sports, and returning to his hometown for some sun and surfing in the summer.
Thomas Falivene
Senior Associate Attorney
Thomas H. Falivene (“Tom”), is a Senior Associate Attorney at Baker Law Group, practicing in the litigation team. Tom has extensive experience in the areas of civil litigation, arbitrations and mediation, risk management, and insurance defense. During his diverse legal career, Tom has handled cases involving construction defects, premises liability, homeowners’ association law, business contracts and disputes, subrogation, and probate litigation. He is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and has served on various Bar committees including as a tutor/mentor. Tom has served as Associate Attorney and then Partner/Shareholder in law firms in St. Louis and Denver and as Assistant General Counsel for a major insurance group in Baltimore.
Tom attended the University of Delaware on an NCAA football scholarship where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. He was awarded a Graduate Internship and obtained a Master’s Degree in Political Science and Public Administration, with Honors, at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He then attained his Juris Doctorate at the University of Arkansas School of Law, ranking in the top 20% of his graduating class.
Tom enjoys interacting with clients to address legal issues effectively and efficiently and has extensive experience working with mediators, arbitrators, and expert witnesses. When not at work, Tom can probably be found playing his guitars, riding his Harley, or exploring the Colorado backcountry with his wife Jackie, and his family and friends.
Amanda Bauer
Associate Attorney
Amanda Bauer is an associate attorney at the Baker Law Group. She focuses her practice primarily on labor and employment issues.
Amanda has focused on labor and employment throughout her career as an attorney. She has practiced both in government and private practice and on both the plaintiff and defense sides. She has experience with employment discrimination matters, pay equity, and federal contract compliance.
Amanda went to Brown University for her undergraduate degree in History, graduating Magna Cum Laude and with Honors. She received her J.D. from the University of Colorado in Boulder, where she completed a certificate in American Indian Law.
A Colorado native, Amanda enjoys spending time in the outdoors, including skiing, biking, hiking, and backpacking with her wife and dog. She also loves watching hockey games and even picked up the sport herself only a couple of years ago.
Adam Newhouse
Senior Associate Attorney
Adam R. Newhouse is a Senior Associate Attorney at Baker Law Group, practicing on the Litigation team.
Adam started his career at a consumer bankruptcy law firm in Denver primarily filing Chapters 7 and 13 bankruptcies for his clients. Adam then moved into a law firm that represented HOA’s where he assisted with HOA collections, liens, and foreclosures. He then transferred to the creditor’s world where he gained extensive experience doing creditor bankruptcy work, along with collections, creditor’s rights, breach of contract, arbitration, and mediations, along with FDCPA and FCRA defense. In his most recent position, Adam managed the legal team in Colorado for a debt-purchaser collection agency in addition to the above skills, he also gained experience in compliance and regulatory matters.
Adam grew up near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and attended undergrad at Washington & Jefferson College where he earned a double major in Biology and Philosophy. He was a member of the varsity football team earning All-Conference accolades three-years in a row along with being named an East Coast Athletic Conference All-Star and being named team captain his senior year. After college, Adam attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School where he received his Juris Doctorate from. While in law school, Adam was an Associate Editor for the Law Review, he was a Treasurer and Class Senator for the Student Bar Association, a Parliamentarian for the American Bar Association Law Students Division, and was also on the Executive Board of the Cooley Rugby Football Club. Adam recently received an LL.M. in Energy and Natural Resources Law from the University of Oklahoma where he was in the top 1% of his class.
Outside of practicing law, Adam enjoys skiing, mountain biking, and weightlifting. His major passion is working on and restoring cars and motorcycles and riding his Harleys. Adam is also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
